Packard Proving Grounds hosts shoe drive

Those looking for a way to make some space in their homes and do a good deed at the same time can consider donating their gently worn, used and new shoes to the Packard Proving Grounds.

Gently worn, used and new shoes can be dropped off through Sept. 16 at the Proving Grounds, located at 49965 Van Dyke Avenue, Shelby Township, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday or 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays at the Shelby Farmers Market located on the front lawn of the grounds.

Proceeds of the shoes sold will be distributed by Funds2Org through their micro-enterprise partner network and will help feed and clothe and house families in 26 developing countries and funds will also go to the Packard Proving Grounds to be used for ongoing restoration and maintenance projects to improve the site’s aesthetics and functionality for private and community events.
